VIDEO: Ricketts On Trump’s National Security Team: “The Resurgence of American Strength is About to Begin”
November 20, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) praised the strong foreign policy team being built by President Donald Trump. Ricketts made the comments while on a conference call with Nebraska media.
“The Biden-Harris administration’s appeasement-first foreign policy made America weaker and less safe,” Ricketts said. “It emboldened our adversaries and made our allies question our resolve. Americans gave President Trump and Senate Republicans a mandate to make America strong again. As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, I’m excited that America will once again stand with our allies. We must restore strong leadership abroad.”
“The time of appeasement is ending. Ricketts closed. The resurgence of American strength is about to begin. And I’m really excited for what the future holds.”
TRANSCRIPT:
Senator Ricketts: “The Biden-Harris administration’s appeasement-first foreign policy has made America weaker and less safe.
“It emboldened our adversaries and made our allies question our resolve.
“Americans gave President Trump and Senate Republicans a mandate to make America strong again.
“As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, I’m excited that America will once again stand with our allies. We must restore strong leadership abroad.
“I look forward to considering the nominees that have been announced to appear before the Committee.
“For example, President Trump couldn’t have picked a better Secretary of State than Senator Marco Rubio.
“Having served with him at the Committee, I know Marco understands the Chinese Communist Party is America’s greatest foreign threat.
“He knows that a CCP-led world order would mean coercion instead of choice — tyranny instead of liberty — and dictatorship instead of democracy.
“China must be deterred.
“He’s also clear-eyed about the threats posed by other adversaries like Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
“President Trump is also making strong selections for important ambassador positions.
“Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is a great choice to be our U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
“She’s stood up for Israel and successfully fought antisemitism spreading on American college campuses by holding school administrators accountable.
“That’s the same kind of fight we need at the U.N.
“Similarly, former Governor Mike Huckabee is a solid pick for U.S. Ambassador to Israel.
“We need an ambassador who won’t waver in his support for our greatest partner in the Middle East.
“Mike is that person.
“He will support Israel as it defends itself against Iran and its proxies.
“He will also continue the successful work of the first Trump administration in normalizing relations between Israel and its neighbors.
“Earlier today, President Trump announced Matthew Whitaker for Ambassador to NATO.
“This is a job where we need a strong advocate to take our message directly to NATO allies.
“Each NATO member country must pay their fair share of defense spending.
“I know Matt. He will be able to deliver this message clearly and effectively.
“As a member of the Committee that oversees the State Department, I look forward to getting Marco Rubio, Elise Stefanik, Mike Huckabee, and Matthew Whitaker confirmed as quickly as possible.
“Americans should be encouraged by President Trump’s national security team.
“The time of appeasement is ending.
“The resurgence of American strength is about to begin. And I’m really excited for what the future holds.”
