“Hi, this is Pete Ricketts, Senator for the great state of Nebraska.
“On September 17, 1787, our Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution. It is the greatest governing document man has ever written.
“For 236 years, our Constitution has served as the supreme law of the land. It’s the framework that protectsthe God-given freedoms we cherish.
“Today, we give thanks for the principles reflected in it: federalism, the separation of powers, and checks and balances between the three branches of government.
“We’re strongest when we follow them. We’re never weaker than when we stray from them.
“As we observe Constitution Day this year, let’s reflect on the blessings we have as Americans and celebrate the world’s longest surviving written charter of government.
“Let’s rededicate ourselves to doing what we must to ensure we pass on the blessing of liberty to the next generation.
“Happy Constitution Day Nebraska!”
