Ricketts: “VP Harris is Lying About Her Supposed Opposition to an EV Mandate”
OMAHA, NE – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Safety, issued the following statement after a spokesman for Vice President Harris claimed she “does not support an electric vehicle mandate.”
“Vice President Harris is lying about her supposed opposition to an EV mandate. As Senator, she co-led the Zero-Emission Vehicles Act, which would require all new car sales be zero emission vehicles by 2040. As a presidential candidate, she supported a bill to ban non-zero-emission vehicles by 2035. This sudden reversal just months before the election is a pathetic and transparent attempt to distance herself from the unpopular EV mandates already being pushed by the Biden-Harris EPA.”
Ricketts has been staunchly opposed to the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to push through an electric vehicle mandate. He’s introduced and co-sponsored legislation that would overturn the new Biden-Harris tailpipe emissions standards.
