Ricketts Statement on Meeting with Ukrainian President
September 21, 2023
Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), the Ranking Member of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation, issued the following statement after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy:
“For 18 months, Ukraine has courageously fought and dismantled the military of one of our top adversaries in Russia. If Vladimir Putin succeeds in his brutal war on Ukraine, NATO allies like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland could be next and American lives would be at risk. Equally concerning, adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party would be emboldened to pursue their own ambitions. It is in our national security interest to prevent this from happening. America can continue providing lethal aid to Ukraine in its fight for freedom while continuing to provide aggressive oversight to ensure tax dollars are being used effectively.”
