Ricketts Statement on Affirmative Action Decision

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States issued a ruling in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina ending the consideration of race in the application process for higher education:
 
“Today’s Supreme Court decision restored the Constitutional right to equality of opportunity. As Chief Justice Roberts has previously written: ‘the way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.’ Applicants should be judged by the content of their record and the results of their grit, not the color of their skin.”
