Ricketts Statement on 75th Annual NATO Summit
July 9, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, issued the following statement on the 2024 NATO Summit which will take place July 9-11 in Washington, D.C.
“As the NATO Summit begins, I urge President Biden to lead the alliance in addressing era-defining strategic challenges. We must take bold action to strengthen our collective defense and counter emerging threats. We need to encourage allies to increase defense contributions, support Ukraine in Putin’s war of aggression, bolster our partnerships in the Indo-Pacific, and prioritize deterrence. The alliance must also be clearsighted on the threat the People’s Republic of China, Iran and North Korea pose to transatlantic security, and work closely to counter them. By working together, we can ensure a strong and united NATO for generations to come.”
