Ricketts Releases Digital Film on Reality of Electric Vehicles
October 13, 2023
OMAHA, NE – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), the Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Safety, released a digital film on “The Reality of Electric Vehicles.” The video highlights the policy experts and stakeholders who joined Ricketts at a roundtable he hosted earlier this year. The experts shared more about the drawbacks of the Biden administration’s emissions mandates that would require two-thirds of new cars and trucks be electric in just eight years.
“The Biden EPA has failed to consider the negative impacts of its emission mandates,” Ricketts said. “EV mandates are costly, counterproductive, and out-of-touch. I appreciate the policy experts and stakeholders who are helping push back on Washington bureaucrats who don’t understand our way of life in less densely populated states.”

BACKGROUND:
Ricketts condemned the Biden administration’s emission mandates when they were first announced earlier this year. Ricketts is working with Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) to introduce Congressional Review Act legislation that would overturn the mandate. Ricketts also introduced the bipartisan Flex Fuel Fairness Act with Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) to level the playing field and provide a meaningful incentive for automakers to manufacture flex fuel vehicles (FFVs) in addition to battery electric vehicles (EVs).
