Ricketts Knocks Biden’s War on American Energy & Resources: “This is How Crazy Stupid This Administration is!”

WASHINGTON D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) joined Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and other Republican colleagues to condemn the Biden administration’s restrictions on American energy and natural resources.
“This is another example of the Biden administration’s appeasement of the far-left radical environmentalists,” Ricketts said. “Just like they’ve got an appeasement-first strategy for our adversaries like Iran, they are appeasing the far-left environmentalist radicals.”
“This is how crazy stupid this administration is,” Ricketts added. “They want to mandate EVs, on the one hand, and prevent us from having the minerals we need to build the EVs, on the other hand, and thus make us dependent on one of our chief adversaries in the world, the People’s Republic of China.”
The press conference was held in anticipation of today’s announcement the Biden administration is restricting resource development in the National Petroleum Reserve of Alaska (NPR-A) and block a proposed road to the Ambler Mining District. The mining district is a major deposit of copper. The move comes as the Biden administration also works to mandate two-thirds of new cars and trucks be electric in just eight years. EV’s use four times the amount of copper than a typical combustion engine vehicle.

Senator Ricketts: “Thank you very much, Senator Sullivan. I appreciate it. Thank you all very much for being here.
“This is another example of the Biden administration’s appeasement of the far-left radical environmentalists. Just like they’ve got an appeasement-first strategy for our adversaries like Iran, they are appeasing the far-left environmentalist radicals.
“Think about this. Senator Sullivan mentioned the Ambler Road. It leads to one of the largest copper deposits that we’ve got access to. You need copper to make EVs. Well, what else is this administration trying to mandate? EVs. Their new EV rule will require two-thirds of all new vehicles sold in 2032 to be electric vehicles.
“You need four times the amount of copper to build an electric vehicle, as you need for a regular car. Yet they’re going to prevent us from actually getting access to the minerals we need, like copper, with this action.
“Who do you think is out-producing us right now in copper? The People’s Republic of China.
“This is how crazy stupid this administration is! They want to mandate EVs, on the one hand, and prevent us from having the minerals we need to build the EVs, on the other hand, and thus make us dependent on one of our chief adversaries in the world, the People’s Republic of China.
“This is delusional, and it represents everything that’s wrong with this administration on how they attack our energy resources. They attack our natural resources.
“They don’t want us to be able to take advantage of the things we’ve been blessed with, and they want to make us dependent on our adversaries and strengthen our adversaries.
“This must stop. We need to protect the American people.
“We need to protect them from our adversaries, and we need to make sure that they are not going to see this continued rise of inflation.
“This administration is doing everything they can to make us weak and to drive inflation.
“I want to thank Senator Sullivan for all his work on this and all he’s doing to help protect our national security.
