Ricketts: Iran’s Proxies Emboldened by Biden’s Appeasement-First Foreign Policy

February 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, slammed the Biden administration’s appeasement-first foreign policy for emboldening Iran and its terrorist proxies.

“Iran’s proxies are a threat to American national security,” Ricketts said. “And yet, the Biden administration’s appeasement-first foreign policy has emboldened Iran. Not only emboldened them, but enriched them as well. The world’s leading sponsor of terrorism has more money now in its coffers than it did before.”

Ricketts made the comments in a hearing of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations titled Tehran’s Shadow Army: Addressing Iran’s Proxy Network In The Middle East. Witnesses included Dr. Suzanne Maloney, Vice President and Director of Foreign Policy at The Brookings Institution, and Brian H. Hook, Vice Chairman of Cerberus Global Investments, LLC.
