Ricketts, 42 GOP Senators Tell Schumer Taxpayer Savings Must be Part of Debt Ceiling Deal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) joined 42 fellow Republican senators to tell Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) that they will need to see taxpayer savings as part of a debt ceiling deal.

“The opportunity to make a deal that ensures we do not default on our debt while also saving taxpayers money is too important,” said Senator Ricketts about the letter to Schumer. “When I was Governor, Nebraskans expected me to respect their tax dollars and spend every cent as effectively and efficiently as possible. As their Senator, I am committed to fighting for the same from federal spending.”
