Ricketts: Every state is a border state with huge inflow of illegal immigrants

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – Nebraska U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts is demanding that any deal on the nation’s southern border include stopping the Biden Administration’s abuse of parole authority.
During a conference call with Nebraska media on Wednesday, Ricketts stated that President Biden and his Administration has allowed 1.2 million illegal immigrants into the nation just last year.
“There is no more important issue facing our Country right now than the ongoing national security and humanitarian crisis on our southern border. Last week, we learned that more people tried to cross our border illegally in December than the entire population of Lincoln. There were over 302,000 border encounters in December. The highest month ever recorded,” Ricketts said.
Ricketts adds that Customs and Border Protection Agents arrested nearly 20 individuals featured on the FBI’s Terror Watch List in December, bringing the total number of such encounters to 50 since just October.
”That number used to be in single digits for an entire year. The Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws. It is also an overreach of authority to allow more illegal immigrants into this Country. The most shocking example of this is the Biden Administration’s abuse of parole authority,” Ricketts said.
Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, parole should only be granted on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian needs or significant public benefit, according to Ricketts. ”The law is clear, our parole system is supposed to be about individuals with special circumstances it is not meant to be amnesty for those who want to come here and work. President Biden is handing out parole like Halloween Candy, giving it to 85% of the people who knock on our door. This is a clear abuse of parole authority and it must stop.” Ricketts said.
Ricketts concludes that with the current systems of operation, every state in the nation is a border state. “Every state is a border state because of the huge inflow of illegal immigrants coming across that border. Not only do we have so many people coming across the border illegally, which of course is not only going to strain resources in the border states but you’ve seen it in other big cities and even in our state. Also, the amount of drugs coming through is unbelievable. Fentanyl is the largest single killer of Americans aged 18-45 and we have seen a huge increase in that drug and other drugs coming up illegally from Mexico into our state.”
