Fighting for Seniors

Pete Ricketts is committed to fighting for our nation’s senior citizens. As Governor, he signed into law a bill to eliminate state taxes on Social Security income. He improved home care services for seniors leaving the hospital. He protected the rights of individuals who receive in-home personal care. In 2019, in recognition of those efforts, Pete was named the “Senior Advocate of the Year.”

Pete is a member of the Senate Special Committee on Aging. He is exploring solutions to increase opportunity for seniors. He’s working to protect seniors’ access to healthcare. He’s also supportive of tools to help seniors find employment and secure proper housing.

Pete also introduced the Social Security Check Tax Cut Act to phase-out the federal tax on Social Security income. Additionally, he is fighting to combat the fraud and identity theft that deprive older Americans of their financial security.
