December 12, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Pete Ricketts (R-NE) and Deb Fischer (R-NE) introduced a resolution to honor the 30th anniversary of the partnership between the State of Nebraska National Guard and the Czech Republic under the State Partnership Program.
Created in 1993, the State Partnership Program links a State’s National Guard to a partner nation’s military, security forces, and disaster response organization for a cooperative, mutually beneficial relationship. Since 1993, the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and the Nebraska National Guard have cooperated in over 300 engagements, including joint training exercises, exchanges of personnel, and sharing of military expertise and practices.
“For 30 years, the State Partnership Program has allowed the Nebraska National Guard and the Czech Armed Forces to learn best practices and foster cooperation,” said Senator Ricketts. “As the state with the highest percentage of Czech Americans, it’s no surprise Nebraska and the Czech Republic share a commitment to freedom, peace, and security. Our Czech allies are critical partners in the fight against Russian and Chinese Communist Party aggression. I look forward to seeing what this partnership continues to do to support military readiness at home.”
“Our resolution recognizes the lasting partnership between the Nebraska National Guard and the Czech Republic,” said Senator Fischer. “For thirty years, we have worked closely together to strengthen military readiness and grow the bond between our peoples. This resolution honors our shared values, heritage, and commitment to security in Europe and beyond.”
“The State Partnership Program – especially the unique partnership between Nebraska, Texas and the Czech Republic Armed Forces – continues to build strong relationships with our allies and partners and improve security cooperation,” said Major General Craig Strong of the Nebraska National Guard. “We are proud to celebrate 30 years of this mutually beneficial partnership and look forward to strengthening it in the years to come.”
“The partnership between the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and the Nebraska National Guard has been exceptional over the last 30 years,” said Miloslav Stašek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the USA. “It serves as a tool for cooperation across many aspects of civil-military affairs and encourages people-to-people ties between the Czech Republic and Nebraska. This partnership has been a driving force and inspiration for greater cooperation between the Czech Republic and Nebraska in many areas, such as trade, education, agriculture or cultural exchanges.”
