Ricketts Getting Results for Nebraskans Fighting Biden Bureaucracy
December 6, 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) highlighted the victories his offices’ constituent casework team won for Nebraskans navigating the Biden bureaucracy. Ricketts made the comments while on a conference call with Nebraska media.
“When I entered the Senate, I made a promise to make government work better for taxpayers,” Ricketts said. “Looking back on this year, I am proud of the progress my team and I have made in fulfilling and building on that commitment. When the federal government fails to fulfill essential services, my constituent casework staff is here to help.”
One such victory involved recovering money a Lancaster County couple was owed by the IRS.
“In Lancaster County, Doug and Christine reached out after hitting a brick wall with the IRS,” Ricketts said. “They had overpaid taxes due to an error. Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t obtain a refund from the IRS. Our team investigated and discovered the IRS had flagged their account and failed to tell them. Following our intervention, Doug and Christine recovered the money they were owed with interest.”
Ricketts also celebrated the fact that his team has hosted outreach events, including mobile office hours, in every Nebraska county.
“In addition to the work done in our permanent offices across the state, our team has hosted Mobile Office Hours in all 93 Nebraska counties,” Ricketts continued. “This week, we launched a new feature on our website where Nebraskans can request a Mobile Office Hour in their community. Our team has also participated in over 350 outreach events just this year. The team has done a great job helping Nebraskans access federal services they need.”

Senator Ricketts: “There are a lot of policy debates going on in Washington D.C. right now.
“I am committed to fighting for Nebraskans on issues ranging from border security and spending to our national defense and foreign policy.
“Additionally, when I entered the Senate, I made a promise to make government work better for taxpayers.
“Looking back on this year, I am proud of the progress my team and I have made in fulfilling and building on that commitment.
“When the federal government fails to fulfill essential services, my constituent casework staff is here to help.
“In addition to the work done in our permanent offices across the state, our team has hosted Mobile Office Hours in all 93 Nebraska counties.
“This week, we launched a new feature on our website where Nebraskans can request a Mobile Office Hour in their community.
“Our team has also participated in over 350 outreach events just this year.
“The team has done a great job helping Nebraskans access federal services they need.
“For example, Jen in Cass County.
“Expanded daycare services are a huge need in the area.
“Jen was facing hurdles trying to secure a federal grant to open a daycare.
“She had all the necessary documents but was getting held up by red tape.
“My team intervened and was able to resolve the simple address issue that was holding up her application.
“Now, the daycare is open and helping families in the area.
“Similarly, in Lancaster County, Doug and Christine reached out after hitting a brick wall with the IRS.
“They had overpaid in taxes due to an error. Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t obtain a refund from the IRS.
“Our team investigated and discovered the IRS had flagged their account and failed to tell them.
“Following our intervention, Doug and Christine recovered the money they were owed with interest.
“Poor customer service from your federal government is unacceptable.
“While my office cannot ask agencies to change their rules, my team will always do everything in our power to help Nebraskans in need and get another set of eyes on the problem.
“We can inquire about the status of a situation.
“We can provide oversight to ensure a case is being properly handled.
“We can help all Nebraskans navigate the federal bureaucracy.
“Our goal is to have excellent constituent services.”
