Ricketts Votes to End Veterans Affairs Rule Providing Taxpayer-Funded Abortions

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following statement after his vote in support of ending an illegal U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) rule that provides taxpayer-funded abortion services:

“The Biden administration’s attempts to use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions clearly violate not just federal law, but also state and local laws across the country, including in my home state of Nebraska.

“President Biden is ignoring 30 years of precedent he himself supported as a Senator to, yet again, try to change the law without coming to Congress. Regardless of where Americans fall on abortion, a clear majority of Americans agree we should not be spending taxpayer dollars on abortion.

“I thank Senator Tuberville for his leadership on this issue and I was proud to support this effort today.”
